“I joined Crossfit Salisbury in December 2014. This was after a period of 5 years of decreased physical activity following surgery on my shoulder. My weight had slowly crept up to 205 pounds, a considerable amount considering my short height. I simply had no desire or motivation to work out in the conventional ways I had been accustomed to. My situation was further compounded with being diagnosed with an under active thyroid gland. My health was suffering. If I didn’t do something the weight was going to increase and my health would continue to deteriorate.
I had heard about Crossfit Salisbury from a former coworker who I had not seen in about 10 years. He had lost over 100 pounds and attributed it to his workouts at Crossfit Salisbury. Walking into Crossfit Salisbury that first time was very intimidating for me. To be honest, I almost turned around and left. I am glad I didn’t. I was met by a very professional, helpful and experienced staff who brought me into the fold. I was also introduced to a friendly, supportive and motivating group of people who would push me when I didn’t feel like going any farther.
Together, the staff and members of Crossfit Salisbury have helped me increase my strength, lose a considerable amount of body fat and dramatically improve my attitude. In September 2016 I was able to put on my Marine Corps Dress Blue uniform which I had not worn in over 23 years. I never thought I would have been able to wear this uniform ever again, but I can. It is beyond expression the amount of pride I have in my change in my fitness level. I simply owe it all to Crossfit Salisbury. The group motivation and innovative workouts are exactly what I needed to turn my life around.”
