Brandon has always been fascinated with what the human body is capable of but it wasn’t until his friend and fellow CFSby coach Danny introduced him to a workout that he truly understood the hype surrounding CrossFit. The workout was simple on paper, 21-15-9, Thrusters and Burpees. Immediately after finishing and lying on his back wondering what just happened, Brandon knew that he’d found what he was looking for in terms of fitness. Fast forward a few years and a couple hundred workouts later and Brandon decided it was time to pay it forward by helping others realize their potential with CrossFit and thus achieved his level 1 status and has been a vital part of the CFSby team since.
What’s your favorite workout?
There are a lot of workouts that I like but if I had to narrow it down to just one, I’d have to say it would be “Fight Gone Bad”. It’s 3 rounds with a minute of work for max repetitions at each station and a minute of rest between rounds. The stations are as follows: wall-ball shots, sumo deadlift high-pulls (75lbs), 20″ box jumps, push presses (75lbs) and rowing for calories. I like this workout because everyone can do the prescribed loads but to score well you really have to go to that uncomfortable place that denotes true “intensity” to CrossFitters everywhere.

Advice for someone starting or wanting to start CrossFit
My advice to someone starting out or thinking about giving CrossFit a try would be to stick with it. It’s easy to get intimidated by certain movements and aspects of workouts but you have to know that everybody starts somewhere. It’s about the journey, not the destination.
