“For all you strong ladies out there who are battling one issue or another in your life, I’m here to share the story of my extraoridnary mother, Caroline Mansy Nuwer (as witnessed by me, her youngest daughter).
For most of my mom’s life, she’s been the bread winner of the household and has always worked out and been relatively active, but her weight has often fluctuated somewhat drastically when jumping from diet to diet.
About 6 years ago she made an extremely brave and difficult decision to separate (and eventually divorce) from an unhappy 28 year marriage, with the hopes of finding self-confidence and true happiness in life and within herself. She even dropped something like 30 lbs within 6 months after the separation, all on her own.
5 years ago she made another life altering decision and started at Crossfit Salisbury (Maryland). Needless to say, she has been kicking some serious ying-yang ever since. I’ve watched her accomplish goals and smash PRs, both in and out of the box, all while rocking her little ass LuLu skirt. She can bust out pull-ups, toes to bar, and rope climbs like a BAMF (Bad Ass Motha…). For all this and so much more, I want to personally thank Crossfit Salisbury, and the entire Crossfit community in general, for constantly supporting and challenging my mom, both mentally and physically.
Her strength and courage have even inspired me to live a healthier lifestyle and to finally start my own Crossfit adventure (shout out to Crossfit Lorton!).
Considering we’ve known each other give or take 28 years and 6 months, and after all the ups and downs she’s eundured, she is the happiest I’ve ever seen her. I’m honored to call this woman, a 55 year old Crossfitting divorced and now remarried mother of 3 and Grammy to one soon to be 2)my mom, my best friend, and my hero!”
